Press Release: New Board Members

The Women’s Global Leadership Initiative (a Sonoma County non-profit providing affordable leadership training to women of all backgrounds) is pleased to announce that Carrie Peterson has joined our board of directors.  A Sonoma County native, Carrie earned her MA in Sociology from Sonoma

State and currently works as a counselor for at-risk youth in our community.  This year she was honored as Social Worker of the Year for Region A, presented by the National Association of Social Workers. We know that her integrity and steady balanced thinking will be a tremendous asset in our journey into a nationally recognized organization serving women and their communities.

The Women’s Global Leadership Initiative (WGLI) is also pleased to welcome Monica Pignataro to our board.  Monica has 20 years experience in sales and business management and has worked in the staffing industry.  She has her finger on the pulse of employment trends in Sonoma County. As a mother and volunteer she is very involved in her community.  She is currently serving on the Young Professionals Network Board of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, Tomorrow Leaders Today, and the Northbay Networking Group.  Monica’s strong belief in giving back to the community, her partnership approach in her communication with clients and candidates and her mission to make everyone smile are a key to her success.  Monica’s advocacy for children and families and her business acumen make her a strong and valued addition to the WGLI Board.

Monica and Carrie join existing board members including Nadja Masura PhD. Nadja is the Marketing Director for WGLI.  At WGLI, Masura helps capture the true essence of the organization in crafting the core message, and coordinating volunteers. A skilled planner and systems creator, she has been active in developing curriculum, facilitating community events like the Run Forum and the Women’s Wellness Lectures at SRJC, board mediation, determining volunteer policy and re-mapping our website. Thank you for all you do.  Nadja is a Sonoma County native who received her PhD in Theatre and Digital Humanities from University of Maryland (M.I.T.H) and has worked with national organizations such as Women Theatre Performance and Sister Cities.  Over the years she has played a positive role in the local arts community.
