University Programs

We recognize the urgency to address the adversity that women face in the workplace. Through a partnership with academic institutes who share a commitment to stronger outcomes for new graduates, we are able to reach and engage a larger number of under-represented communities of women.

WGLI believes that the key to gaining greater equity for women is addressed by promoting diversity and inclusion, balanced workplaces, and building our own pipelines to greater access and opportunity.

Our University Program is designed by WGLI and our corporate partners to provide a guide for women to successfully steer their careers- approaching pay gaps, leadership positions, and development opportunities. To accompany the theoretical and industry specific knowledge gained through university courses, we bring together the tools and resources to develop crucial workplace skills.

The University benefits by providing students with the capacity to expand their knowledge of important organizational skills that prepare women to start their careers and take on leadership roles.

The program will cover the following topics:

  • Self branding and personal mission statements
  • Facing adversity, implicit bias, and intersectionality
  • Negotiation strategies
  • Strategic career planning

Our Approach

The WGLI Team and partners identify potential gaps and address them effectively through a unique and custom curriculum. Examples of potential curriculum content include the following programs:

Unleash the Power of Purpose and Articulate Your Voice

This full-day course covers topics including Personal Vision and Mission, Personal Branding, and Whisper of Doubt (Imposter Syndrome). Through a series of activities and discussions, participants can articulate their mission and vision statement, align their brand to their future aspirations and overcome any self-doubt in doing so. In addition, students can identify their current career journey and visualize their future accomplishments and steps to reach their desired outcomes.

Stand Your Ground and Make an Empowered Choice

This full-day course aids participants in developing their Emotional Intelligent Quotient, manage their emotions and build strong relationships. This program also highlights strategies to maneuver challenging situations by developing critical skills of “Saying No” wherever necessary and becoming a better listener.

Learn, Communicate and Thrive Across Differences

This personal history course supports participants to advance personal strengths through a series of reflections and dialogue. These activities help uncover how one’s background affects how one sees the world. The participants then dive deeper into the world of Unconscious Bias, understand its roots and discuss strategies to combat it through effective communication, allyship, and building a rapport.

In partnership with Women’s Global Leadership Initiative, the SRJC set out to provide students and faculty alike with the opportunity to learn real-life skills that build confidence and competency and women who serve as change agents for women’s equity. WGLI launched their first US Women’s Initiative at SRJC delivering over 20 training events in a two-year period--creating a lasting impact. I am honored to have been a part of this important opportunity.
