Director of Fund Development

How you’ll make an impact

The Director of Fund Development is responsible for all fundraising initiatives and activities of the organization. He/she is directly responsible for the development and implementation of the annual giving plans including cultivating and maintaining relationships with new and existing donors and supporters, developing and building a Major Gifts Program. He/She may help research and assist in guiding or writing grant proposals and setting the standards for evaluation reports.

The Director is also responsible for recruiting project managers for fundraising events and dinners. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Fund Development participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving.

He/she works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned. Current overall fundraising goal: $450,000

What you will do

Team management

  • Direct, plan and coordinate the work of the fundraising staff including supervision and evaluation, training and team building.
  • Organize and attend departmental meetings to maintain effective communication.
  • Ensure adequate and qualified staff and volunteers to carry out the fundraising activities.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, responsible for the selection, hiring, coaching, and discipline of the fundraising employees.

Annual giving

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of all activities related to individual giving.
  • Responsible for the development of a Major Gifts Program, including research, identification of potential donors, developing the case for giving and developing and maintaining relationships.
  • Remain current on all legislation and ethical practices pertaining to fundraising.
  • Responsible for the supervision and management of the fundraising database, Income Manager, ensuring the timely distribution of tax receipts.
  • Compile, maintain and report on the Annual Giving Campaign statistics including per donor gift, churn, participation etc.
  • Analyze trends in the Annual Giving Campaign, identifying opportunities and challenges and developing strategies to ensure goals are met.

Foundations, corporate and service club funding

  • Help or direct research and develop funding proposals for charitable foundations, corporate charitable funds, service clubs and other similar funds.

Special events fundraising

  • Manage the Fine Art Auction and Dinner including but not limited to volunteer recruitment, support to the volunteer committee, budget development and management, project plan development, management and evaluation, and solicitation of gifts in kind and sponsorship.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the staff responsible for the Bowling Event participating in strategy development and problem-solving as required.
  • Liaise with and support third party fundraising initiatives.

Committee work (local and national)
Local Organization: The Director of Fund Development, in partnership with the Director of Communications and Marketing, is responsible for supporting the Fundraising and Marketing Committee and other committees as assigned.

National Organization: When appropriate opportunities arise, the Director will participate in national and regional committees.

Local Community: The Director of Fund Development will participate in the Association of Fundraising Professionals and any other community tables deemed appropriate.

You have these skills

University degree or community college diploma in fundraising and three years experience in a mid-level fundraising position.

The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at WGLI deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful COO will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organization, is it also critical that the team retain the creative spark that drives the WGLI concept.

The COO is involved in aligning organizational objectives, short- and long-term strategic planning and positioning, and organizational design. The COO oversees all strategy, operational and administrative functions of WGLI, specifically Operations, Talent, IT, Finance, Programs and Membership and manages the directors of these work groups. The COO will provide coordination of WGLI’s executive leadership team and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operational aspects of the annual budget and strategic plan.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field; preferred Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business, organizational leadership or related field.

We are currently seeking a Program Development Director. This position is responsible for leading the development and refresh of WGLI programs. This position will manage and ensure the Program’s strategic goals and tactics are achieved in a timely manner. The Program Development Director will also ensure all internal stakeholders understand our existing programs suite, what is in development, and partners with them to determine how best to represent the programs to external partners and donors.

We are currently seeking a Program Developer. This position is part of a team responsible for the development

and refresh of WGLI programs. The Program Developer will create educational modules to empower women

and give them the skills they need to excel in their careers. Modules cover a wide range of topics, including

Project Management, Conflict Resolution and Acquiring Fundraising & Grants. Current development is focused on in-class modules which emphasize experiential learning and interactivity. Knowledge of effective slide design and elements of an effective workshop are vital. Future development will focus on e-learning modules and podcasts as WGLI expands its educational offerings.

What you will do

  • Assist the Program Development team in accessing WGLI’s current programs’ suite against the latest,

cutting edge research on women in leadership, leadership development for women, and women in

community capacity building to ensure curriculum and programs are aligned and up-to-date

  • Create educational modules for in-class delivery on a variety of topics including, Project Management,

Conflict Resolution and Acquiring Fundraising & Grants. Each module consists of a slideshow,

facilitator’s guide and a participant’s guide.

  • Help build the Program Development team’s database of professional development resources and

activities upon which future modules can be developed.

  • Utilize collected feedback to continuously improve WGLI’s programming.

You have these skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 2-4 years experience in curriculum and program design, delivery, and evaluation
  • Advanced computing skills and ability to learn new software/computing tools quickly
  • Understanding, knowledge and experience with using social media as a business tool
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Program Coordinator

Location: Remote (San Francisco, CA preferred)

WGLI is seeking an Program Coordinator to join our team. This motivated and detail-oriented individual will help WGLI forge new community partnerships and increase the number of those reached by WGLI’s leadership development programming.

What you will do

  • Approach potential clients promoting the educational programming WGLI has to offer.
  • Drum up community interest in said WGLI programming.
  • Establish partnerships universities, colleges, alumni orgs.
  • Leverage partnerships into purchases of WGLI educational programming in the form of on-site leadership events.

Onboarding & Engagement Partner

Location: Remote

Duration: 1 year

Schedule:  5-10 hours a week

How you’ll make an impact

This role will create and lead volunteer engagement strategies designed to empower and meaningfully engage WGLI volunteers. The successful candidate will build program and organizational capacity, provide learning and mentorship to staff and deepen committed leadership by empowering people.

Additionally, in conjunction with direct reports, this role is responsible for the On and Off Boarding process of new volunteers.

What you will do

Strategy Development & Evaluation

  • Develop and oversee an organization-wide volunteer strategy that advances our goals and builds organizational capacity;
  • Research, recommend and implement effective emerging trends in the field of volunteerism, pro bono services, and volunteer management;
  • Identify appropriate evaluation approaches and key performance indicators, solicit feedback from staff and volunteers, and report bi-weekly on activities, engagement levels of volunteer staff and impact.
  • Develop and oversee onboarding and offboarding process of volunteers
  • Report trends and actionable feedback to senior leaders

Staff Engagement

  • Implement the volunteer engagement vision and strategy, seek opportunities to ensure both staff and volunteers are aware of these principles and also working toward them;
  • Catalyze staff interest in volunteer engagement by sharing success stories, creating compelling multimedia resources, and excellent internal communications;
  • Collaborate with staff across the organization to identify and create opportunities for volunteer engagement;
  • Provide coaching, consultation and tangible support to key constituents on volunteer engagement in a distributed organization;
  • Provide regular progress updates identifying successes, issues and challenges, and opportunities to ensure effective and successful volunteer engagement.
  • Create and distribute toolkits and other digital resources that equip volunteer staff to take self-directed action toward our key goals;
  • Provide volunteer staff with energizing and useful internal communications;
  • Act as an internal resource and advocate for WGLI volunteers;
  • Other related duties as required.

You have these skills

To excel in the role of Engagement Management Partner , you will have:

  • Minimum two years of volunteer engagement, public engagement, human resources or other related experience;
  • Interest in and sound knowledge of leading edge volunteer engagement principles and practices;
  • Experience developing and executing successful volunteer engagement strategies (ideally both in person and digitally), with a portfolio and proven record of success;
  • Solid project management experience, with the initiative to proactively develop and champion projects, chunk them into multiple discrete deliverables, and then delegate effectively;
  • An uncanny attention to detail and personal commitment to delivering work with excellence;
  • Strong technical skills, including CRM, Workplace, G-Suite and online community facilitation;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Well-honed problem solving skills, sound judgement and decision making skills;

How you’ll make an impact

WGLI is seeking a Graphic Designer who is driven to develop quality web, digital, interactive, online and/or print materials.

What you will do

  • Web:
      • Develop images for the web including infographics, sizing images, cleaning up photos, presentations/webinars, buttons, campaign banners, and other interactive projects as needed
      • Create brand assets (identity, branded graphics) and manage archives
  • Print:
    • Create brochures, flyers, handouts, banners, signs and other printed materials as needed for programs and events
    • Create PDF forms, business cards, letterhead and other business collateral as needed

You have these skills

  • Demonstrated design and creative abilities with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator as well as Microsoft and Google products (Google docs/sheets, Microsoft Word/PPT)
  • Strong oral, interpersonal and communications skills; able to take direction and provide feedback

WGLI is seeking a WordPress Web Developer who is knows how to develop WordPress themes, plugins, elements, templates, and code custom css, html.

What you will do

Develop and maintain the current WGLI website. Add new web pages as needed, edit, maintain and design new pages.

You have these skills

  • Demonstrated WordPress web development and design experience is a must!
  • Proficiency and knowledge of WordPress plugins, themes, templates, css, and html
  • Creative abilities with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator as well as Microsoft and Google products (Google docs/sheets, Microsoft Word/PPT)
  • Strong oral, interpersonal and communications skills; able to take direction and provide feedback. Will be working in tandem with team members.
